I launched a Facebook page for Metropolia Career Services on 1st September 2010. About 1,5 years later on 1st of February 2012 the page reached 1 000 fans.

I haven’t done aggressive marketing or advertising for the page, it has been more in the spirit of guerilla marketing. Here’s what I’ve done:

  • I’ve had the page address on my email signature
  • I’ve forwarded the job ads from Facebook to intranet and added a tip in the end containing addresses for all social media applications I’ve created
  • I’ve sent few separate intranet announcements about social media in job searching
  • I’ve sent at least one message for Metropolia’s employer and student users via Jobstep.net recruitment service

One of the few student comments on the page has been, that students are more interested in actual job ads than eg. referrals to general articles about how to apply for a job. So, even though the growth of my fan base hasn’t been enormous, I’m quite pleased with the growing number of new job ads.
